What to eat
If you visit Bilbao it is essential to taste the pintxos, made on a slice of bread. You also have to try cod and kokotxas of hake with green sauce. Another typical dish is the elver, traditionally prepared with extra virgin olive oil, garlic and chilli and they are served in a clay casserole. Also, it is essential that you eat tuna marmitako, which is prepared with potatoes, onion and tomato. Regarding the typical dessert, the one that stands out is the canutillos of Bilbao, made with twisted pastry dough filled with cream.
What to see
One of the main tourist attractions of Bilbao is the Guggenheim Museum that stands out because its expositions and its exterior formed by titanium panels and its city pet, Puppy, a dog fully covered by fresh flowers. Another tourist spot of the city is the old town, where you can get to know the origins of the city or eat some pintxos at the Plaza Nueva. It also stands out La Ribera market, which is the biggest covered market of Europe, and the Bizkaia Bridge (suspension bridge).
